Democracy North Carolina is hiring ten outstanding college students for our Democracy Summer internship program. During the summer of 2010, Democracy Summer interns will work in 2-person teams located in Charlotte, Durham, Fayetteville, Greenville or Winston-Salem. Under the direction of an experienced field organizer, they will help build our volunteer base, empower citizens to take part in the political process and advocate for electoral policies that put the people of North Carolina first. Visit www.democracy-nc.org for details on the program, our activities and our overall mission. Democracy North Carolina is a non-partisan organization.
Interns receive a $2,300 stipend and work hard for two months, including many evening and weekend hours. In return, they learn how to win political influence in North Carolina, explore a career in public service, politics, and the non-profit field, and develop relationships that can serve them well when they start their careers. They also learn about voting rights, election law, money in politics, activism techniques and interpersonal skills critical to successful community organizing.
